What is happening in Rwanda today
Kigali edition · Kigali edition
The gatherings, markets, tours and ceremonies taking place today — worked out from each event's usual pattern and topped up with confirmed dates entered by our desk.
Setting today's listings…
Rwanda's calendar is not only made of headline festivals. On an ordinary day in Kigali there is a guided walk through Nyamirambo, a gallery opening in Kacyiru, a dance rehearsal you can sit in on, and a market that has been trading since dawn. This page pulls those together so a free afternoon does not go to waste.
Anything shown as a confirmed date has been entered by hand from an official announcement. Everything else is the event's usual pattern — reliable enough to plan around, but always worth a phone call before you cross the city in traffic.
Times are local Kigali time. Most daytime activities need only a ride and a modest entry fee; a few, especially guided walks and dance sessions, prefer a day's notice so the hosts can prepare properly.
Short notice is normal
Kigali's smaller venues announce line-ups on social media the same week, sometimes the same day.
Mornings are the busy half
Markets, community work and tours start early; by mid-afternoon the city slows before the evening scene.
Sunday is different
Church services run long, some businesses open late, and on Car Free Day mornings whole roads close to traffic.
Before you go
- Why does nothing show for today?
- It means no confirmed edition was entered and none of the recurring events fall on today's date. Try the upcoming page, which looks two months ahead.
- Are the times exact?
- They are the usual start times. Where an organiser has published exact timing for a confirmed edition, that timing is shown instead.
