NGO and Development Organisation Registration
How international and national non-profits register, report and operate.
01 — Registration route
Registration route
International non-governmental organisations register with the Rwanda Governance Board and sign an annual operating agreement setting out their programme areas and districts. National non-profits and faith-based organisations follow parallel processes with their own documentation.
- Constitution or statutes and proof of legal existence at home
- Action plan and budget aligned to national priorities
- Country representative appointment and credentials
- Bank details and audited accounts
02 — Operating expectations
Operating expectations
Organisations report annually against their agreed plan, coordinate with the relevant sector ministry and district authorities, and are expected to demonstrate alignment with national development strategy. Building the district relationship early is the single biggest predictor of a smooth programme.
