What to pack

Small notes for the market and the grill — nobody has change for RWF 5,000.

Before you go

  • Market days are the reason to time a stop here; ask locally which day is busiest.
  • Kabgayi's museum is small and worth an hour, not an afternoon.
  • Rooms are cheap and basic — most travellers push on to Huye or Kigali.
  • It is the last easy fuel and cash stop before the western hills.
